New Restaurant, Condos in OTR

New Restaurant, Condos in OTR

(Over-the-Rhine) -- Just over a year ago, Washington Park was re-opened after a multi-million dollar makeover.  Most evenings, there are free concerts or other activities, and kids play in the fountains.  And the area around the park is getting new life. New and rebuilt homes, and new restaurants have sprung up along Race Street, while farther away, Vine and Main Streets are busy with dozens of new businesses.

On Thursday, 3CDC, the Vice Mayor, and City Manager cut the ribbon on the newly rehabilitated Hummel Building at 14th and Elm.  The three story structure was built in 1878.  Now, it has four high-end condos, each with a balcony.

Friday morning, 3CDC said another restaurant would be built just a few blocks away, at 14th and Republic.  Salazar is expected to open this fall in the Nicolay Building.  According to a press release, Salazar will feature "farm-inspired new American dishes", in a 45-seat “modern brasserie”.

3CDC and the developer, Northpointe Group, also plan to put ten condominums above the restaurant in the Nicolay Building, along with a 1,200 SF street-level commercial space.

The Hummel and Nicolay Building redevelopment projects are part of 3CDC's Phase 5 in Over-the-Rhine, building 65 condos, 23 apartments, and 8,100 square feet of commerical space.
