Once this kid is done being grounded . . . and he's going to be grounded for a LONG TIME . . . he's definitely going to be the coolest kid in school.
On Thursday morning, a nine-year-old boy managed to get through airport security at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, board a Delta flight, and fly to Las Vegas . . . all WITHOUT A TICKET.
During the flight, the flight attendants realized he wasn't on their list of unaccompanied minors, so they contacted the cops, who picked him up when they landed in Vegas. They transferred him to child protective services, and he was with them all weekend.
It's not clear how he got to the airport, how he managed to sneak on the plane, when he's getting home, or WHY he wanted to go. But when Minneapolis police went to his house on Thursday, his parents said they, quote, "hadn't seen much of him today."
And the TSA blamed their mistake on . . . the government shutdown. A spokesman said they are understaffed because several employees were furloughed. They also said kids can sometimes pretend they're with other families and slip past.
Security footage showed that before the flight, the kid stole a bag from the airport carousel in Minnesota, ate a sandwich at a restaurant, told the server he had to go to the bathroom, then never came back . . . and left the bag behind.
